YBLA Impact Report
2024 - Q2
A Message from The Martins
Greetings Everyone!
The second quarter of 2024 has been like a whirlwind!
The quarter started with our Legacy Builders Gala. With over 270 guests in attendance, we're thrilled to announce that we reached our goal of $250k! Our Young Professionals hosted the fundraiser and stole the show. Jr. and Sr. Ambassadors delivered powerful speeches about their experiences in YBLA, which is a true testament to your support.
Our third Black Talent Pipeline (BTP) cohort of Emerging Professionals attended their Professional Development Week. They visited corporate sponsors, where they learned the power of networking and explored different career options. The amazing week culminated in their service trip to Belize.
We celebrated our Sr. Ambassadors at Scholar Day, proudly congratulating 42 Charlotte Ambassadors and 13 Atlanta Ambassadors. Thanks to our sponsors and donors, YBLA awarded over $40K in scholarships.
This quarter, YBLA traveled to Belize four times, with our final trip in July. We'll celebrate gifting our second home to a single mother and her sons. Service trips to Belize provide developmental opportunities for YBLA leaders. They bring food to local residents' homes, paint and clean community schools, connect with children, distribute shoes, set up computer labs, and build a home for families in need.
Finally, we must note that our home builds continue to be one of the most transformational parts of leadership development for our young leaders. We are deeply grateful to Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia, for providing funding so we can fully furnish House Build #2.
We are blessed to have a community committed to our mission.
